After popping my head over next door’s fence for a natter we have ended up with new wheelbarrow. Our next door neighbour has had it laying around her garden for the best part of 4 years from what i could make out. She asked if we wanted a ’second’ wheelbarrow, at which point I commented that we didn’t even have a ‘first’ wheelbarrow!
So after a wander through to the front of the house, we were the proud owners of a wheelbarrow. To be honest, I was expecting something rather battered and worn but it seems in remarkably good nick, aside from a tyre that needs to be pumped up a little and a thin layer of concrete on the inside, that is. It even has smart orange handles and an orange wheel hub.
The Mrs. and I had a not insubstantial discussion about whether we should name it or not. Wheeley, Willy and Wolfgang (?!) were soon lost by the wayside, with Barry triumphing! So Barry, is the new name for our wheelbarrow. It just seemed to fit.
Is it wrong to name a wheelbarrow?

It is entirely proper, IOHO, to name a wheelbarrow. Naming it might even entice one to take better care of Barry… don’t ya think??

A wheelbarrow had been left on our allotment by the previous tennant. It isn’t is as good condition as Barry, but it does the job.
Great name!

Our wheelbarrow is called “Mother” because my father-in-law bought it as a thank you pressie for looking after him after mum-in-law died. My sis-in-law got a necklace! I know what I prefer…
