I received a new lens for my camera today and could not resist taking a load of pictures out in the garden! The picture doesn’t exactly show the prettiest thing in the world though, but neither are the sprouts it came from or the resulting potatoes that will result. At least the flowers will be nice.
Expect more close ups, although i am still learning…

Thanks for your comment on my blog
Ah ha ha! Macro lens? We have a Canon 30D (I think?) with a macro lens, it’s fantastic for those close-ups (obviously), but has proved really difficult when taking ‘normal’ shots. You have to stand about 40ft away from your subject to fit them all in!
Rich (other half) took a brilliant shot of a bee with it last year (reused the pic again though) http://www.smallestsmallholding.com/return-of-the-bee/
It’s a great way to get up close and personal and see things you would normally miss.
Hope you have fun with your new lens

Indeed it is! I’ve got a 70mm sigma 2.8 macro. Camera is Nikon D80. I’ve got a zoom too so it pretty much covers any range i want to photograph. My 2 hobbies covered in 1! The bee is wicked, i’ll be attempting to replicate that!!!
